The Riverside Karate Alumni Foundation (RKAF) is a California 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formally incorporated in 2009 by Genbu-Kai Riverside black belt members.  RKAF operates the Genbu-Kai Riverside dojo which is part of Genbu-Kai International Shito-Ryu Karate-Do, a worldwide organization founded by Shihan Fumio Demura.  RKAF was created in part, to help students and the community learn about the art and history of our style of karate.   The belief in our style, is that the higher rank (sempai) have a responsibility to mentor the lower ranked students (kohai). Our philosophy involves the sempai teaching and passing down what we have learned through our training and life experiences to our kohai, as a means of paying tribute for what we have learned from others, as prior generations of karateka have done.

For many years, a number of Riverside black belts donated their own time, money, and experiences in an effort to better Genbu-Kai students and the Riverside community.  Forming a non-profit organization to carry on these efforts and traditions was a natural progression.  RKAF continues to assist students who pursue training and education in the art of Genbu-Kai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do and provides an avenue for understanding the importance of education, community involvement, and the rich traditions and history of our karate.  Our goal is to produce leaders and engaged members who positively impact our society through the teachings and philosophies of Genbu-Kai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do.

The RKAF Board of Directors is lead by the following Genbu-Kai Riverside Black Belt Members.  As a non-profit, RKAF leaders contribute to welfare of the dojo and students alike.  These leaders have continued to volunteer their time and experience without any compensation other than the satisfaction of knowing the Genbu-Kai philosophies and traditions will continue to live through future generation of karateka's and leaders.
